Professor Leonor Ceballos is a Professor of Spanish and the Program Director of Spanish inside the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Utah Tech. She also served as Department Chair of History, Humanities, and Modern Languages from 2010 to 2013. She has been a faculty member at UT since 2007.
Born and raised in Spain, Professor Ceballos earned a BA in English Philology at the University of Deusto in Bilbao and a Certificate in Languages Teaching. Professor Ceballos did her graduate studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she received a Master’s degree in Spanish Philology (2004) and a Doctorate in Peninsular Literature (specializing in women’s writers in pre- and post-Civil War Spain) (2007). She has taught an array of courses at Utah Tech University: Beginners to Advanced Grammar courses, Culture and the History of Spain, Literary Analysis, Spanish Literature, Spanish Cinema, and Medical Spanish. Professor Ceballos is mainly interested in Spanish literature narrative, the Spanish Civil War, the Generation of ’27, and the Generation of ’98. She also loves poetry and drama from both Spain and Latin America. She is currently working on Spanish practical guides for physical therapy professionals and humanitarian workers.
Professor Ceballos loves travelling with her husband and daughter, teaching, reading, writing, cooking, and watching soccer. She is probably the biggest FC Barcelona fan in Southern Utah.
